  • Perfect For: Students who have completed beginner class or know basic machine use, seam types, and have made 1–2 projects
  • Class Size: Up to 4–5 students for personalized attention
  • Goal: Confidently follow commercial patterns, improve precision, master zipper insertion and waistband attachment
  • Complete: Two comprehensive projects - A-line skirt and pajama set
Advanced Tools & Pattern Reading
Duration: 3 hours
Focus: Moving from beginner to precision sewing
• Refresher on accurate measuring, fabric grain line • Intro to interfacing, notches, darts • Reading commercial sewing patterns, overview of skirt structure • Cut fabric pieces (front, back, waistband, interfacing) • Mark darts, zipper placement, seam allowances
Homework: Pre-wash fabric and pin pattern pieces if needed
Garment Construction Begins – Skirt Sewing
Duration: 3 hours
Focus: Assembling pattern pieces for Long A-line skirt
• Pin and sew front and back pieces at side seams • Learn invisible zipper technique insertion • Interface waistband piece, sew waistband to skirt • Hand stitch inside waistband for clean finish • First skirt fitting and necessary adjustments
Homework: Zipper placement practice
Skirt Completion
Duration: 3 hours
Goal: Complete the A-line skirt project
• Adjust waistband if needed • Check overall fit and length, pin hem for final length • Sew hem evenly around bottom edge • Blind stitching hemming technique • Final press for polished look • Discuss fabric choice and design for pajama set
Homework: Hemline adjustment practice
Pajama Set - Pattern Prep & Start Bottoms
Duration: 3 hours
Focus: Begin pajama set construction
• Commercial pajama pattern overview & sizing • Choose correct size & make minor adjustments • Fabric layout and cutting tips • Lay out fabric & cut all pieces, transfer markings • Sew front and back, crotch and inseams • Try on for rough fitting
Homework: Commercial pattern reading
Finish Bottoms & Start Top
Duration: 3 hours
Goal: Complete bottoms and begin top construction
• Make elastic waistband casing, insert elastic • Hem legs, complete bottoms • Start pajama top: sew shoulder seams and side seams • Finish neckline with facing or bias tape • Start sleeves preparation and armholes
Homework: Curved seam stitching practice
Pajama Set Completion
Duration: 3 hours
Goal: Complete pajama set with professional finishing
• Attach sleeves and finish armholes • Hem bottom edge and sleeve edges • Add buttons for button-up style • Try on and adjust for perfect fit • Press all seams, add decorative touches (piping, labels, pockets)
Final Result: Complete pajama set ready to wear!
