• Adjusting commercial patterns for perfect fit
• Draping techniques on a dress form

Week 3: Couture Sewing & Hand Techniques
• Hand-stitched finishes (slipstitch, blind hem, prick stitch)
• French tacks, underlining, and stabilizing techniques
• Working with fine fabrics like silk and lace

Week 4: Specialty Fabrics & Complex Closures
• Sewing leather, velvet, chiffon, and stretch fabrics
• Installing invisible zippers, welt pockets, and bound buttonholes
• Mastering tricky closures (corset loops, hook-and-eye tape)

Week 5: Embellishments & Customization
• Appliqué, embroidery, and beading techniques
• Creating decorative topstitching and trims

What will I learn?
This is introductory class with Ashlie teaches the fundamentals of hand sewing, learning home machines, and reading commercial paper patterns. By the end of the class, you will have a basic understanding of hand sewing, sewing tools, machine stitching, fabric knowledge, and paper patterns. You will also have the start of your own Sewing Portfolio.
